Dog Obedience Training Course

We bet every dog owner agrees the following three points:

“First, prevention is always better than cure. Second, a dog is never happy when they have behavioural issue. Third, your life will definitely be ruined when your dog has behavioural problem.”

At this moment, you may believe your dog’s behavior is impeccable. But the question is, will it last forever? It depends on how well you fulfill their needs. The true needs of your dog are leadership and reward. This training course helps owners to understand how to establish and maintain a leadership position from the dog’s perspective as well as how to give rewards at the right time to reinforce the desirable behaviour. When you satisfy your dog’s needs constantly, the dog’s good behaviour can be sustained over time.

By participating in the course, you will enjoy a great deal of fun while creating a stronger bonding with your dog. Most importantly, it helps prevent the unwanted behaviour from occurring in the future. Eventually, the dog can fit in your lifestyle perfectly.

Successful Examples

Basic Command Training

Learning basic dog commands is one of the most effective ways to enhance communication and the relationship between humans and dogs. Incorporating these commands into daily life can significantly prevent problematic behaviors from arising in dogs. Even when a dog displays undesirable behavior, we can promptly address the issue by instructing the dog to follow a command.

Consider the following scenario as an example: if a dog is about to bite the furniture, a simple “come” command can interrupt the dog’s unwanted behavior and provide guidance for appropriate action. This not only resolves the immediate issue but also helps the dog make better choices in the future.

Basic Command Training II

In this video, trainer Angela is going to demonstrate some advanced, cool tricks. These include teaching your dog to balance treats on its nose, walking “8” shape between your legs and dancing forward and backward in sync with your pace. These are just a few of the many awesome tricks that can broaden your dog’s mental agility and strengthen the bond between you two. There’s much more to learn in this lesson, and everyone can master these tricks, or even invent their own, once the method is revealed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What method will you use to train my dog?

Different dogs require different training strategies. First, dog trainer will identify the root cause of the problem. Then, they will introduce appropriate training methods, tools, and activities tailored to engage your dog effectively. Throughout the process, we will explain aspects of dog psychology to facilitate better communication between you and your dog.

Would my dog feel upset for training?

All methods used in our lessons are derived from scientific research and proven to be safe and harmless to dogs. We adopt the positive reinforcement method which physical punishment is forbidden. We aim to shape a balanced and satisfied dog by fulfilling their true needs. While we can’t guarantee the dog is extremely happy in the learning process—since learning often involves stepping out of their comfort zone—we can assure you that dogs experiencing behavioral problems are typically unhappy. In the long run, dog training is beneficial to you and your dog’s relationship. Through training, we aim to alleviate these behavioral issues, leading to a happier and healthier dog in the long term.

How can you guarantee my dog's behaviour will be improved and long lasting?

To what degree the problem can be improved and sustained depending on many factors, such as the dog’s learning ability, the frequency of practicing the assigned exercises and the owner’s willingness to adopt. Our dog trainer will demonstrate all the necessary skills needed to rehabilitate the dog in different circumstances and guide you through the process. Through consistent practice, we believe the behavioral issues can be gradually alleviated. However, it’s important to remember that long-term success largely depends on continued reinforcement of these skills at home.

How many lessons are required to reach the training target?

The number of lessons required depends on your dog’s individual situation, which will be evaluated by our dog trainer. The number of lessons can be adjusted according to actual progress. Our basic plan consists of three lessons:

First LessonWe’ll investigate the root cause of the problem, explain the methods to be used, demonstrate and teach you how to use the correct tools and methods.

Second Lesson: We’ll focus on addressing the problem and consolidating your skills as an owner.

Third LessonWe’ll work on strengthening your leadership position and further following up on the problem.

Typically, lessons are carried out on a weekly basis. Each week, you’ll be given exercises and activities to do with your dog according to the trainer’s instructions. We also encourage you to send videos to the trainer for follow-up reviews.

Of course, every case is unique. For more serious cases where the owner needs substantial support, classes can be held more frequently.

What should I prepare for the dog training lesson?

Our dog trainer will bring all the necessary tools for the lessons. However, since every dog is unique, we advise you to prepare items that your dog finds attractive and is responsive to. These could be favorite foods or toys. These items will be used as rewards when your dog displays ideal behavior.

If you’re unsure about what your dog prefers, we recommend buying a variety of toys and treats and testing them out. You’ll soon discover what your dog likes best. Remember, rewards aren’t limited to toys and treats. They can be in the form of verbal praise or even a loving pat or massage.

So, while attractive toys and food are the basics, you can prepare anything that your dog likes. The most important thing is that it should be safe and harmless.

When and where are the class held?

The class will be held at the mutually agreed time slot. Trainer may arrive 15 mins earlier or later. Therefore, please reserve adequate time for the lesson. For those who lives at remote area, such as island district, the trainer may arrive 30 mins earlier or later due to the sparse transportation network.

The training class takes place at where the dog lives and where the problems occur. We believe this is the most effective and direct way to solve the problem.

I am busy and can't attend the lesson, can I pass the dog to the dog trainer for training?

We often hear from owners who say their dogs only listen to one particular person in the house. This is typically because a dog responds to a person’s attitude, energy, and behavior, not their identity. Therefore, it’s crucial for you, as the owner, to attend the class and learn how to interact with your dog correctly.

If you don’t attend the lessons, you won’t acquire the skills necessary to communicate the right messages to your dog. As a result, your dog may only behave when the trainer is present. You might now be thinking that this sounds more like training the owner than the dog. You’re right. A well-trained dog owner is essential to having a well-behaved dog.

Does everyone in the family need to attend the class?

While it’s not mandatory for all family members to attend every lesson, we strongly encourage everyone’s participation for optimal results. The golden rule in dog training is consistency. Having all family members on the same page and treating the dog in the same way helps prevent confusion for the dog. If consistency isn’t maintained, the dog may end up listening to only some family members and not others. Therefore, the more family members that participate in the training, the better the outcome is likely to be.

FIVE STARS!!!

My boy didn’t take it too well after staying at the dog hotel twice and his behaviour changed dramatically so we stopped travelling ever since.

Thanks to the Pet Sitting Diary, we could have a little get away. Angela visited us once before the service and noted down all the details. At first we were a bit worried if Keung was too difficult to deal with coz he got anxious easily but Angela handled him perfectly . We received very detail updates instantly everytime she arrived our flat until right before she left.

Angela also shared with us the dog walking technique that we could probably look into for Keung. She’s professional, caring and very patient . So glad we found the Pet Sitting Diary and met Angela. We are no longer grounded

Sue Ann Law

Although we have read many books about dog training, it’s never easy to practice with our 4-month-old puppy. After the first lesson, our pup have already succeeded in potty training! It’s magic! Also, we learnt how to instruct the over-energetic puppy to stay calm and behave.

Angela is so willing to share her knowledge and experience with us, I can see our puppy will be growing into a well-mannered dog  Thank you Angela for her professionalism and patience!
